Hello! I'm Sachiko, the owner of Guesthouse Watausagi 🐰 Watausagi is a small dormitory-style guesthouse located in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture. Guests from all over the world come to stay with us here.

But— The truth is… I'm the owner, and I can’t speak English. 😅

That’s something I’ve always felt really disappointed about.

🌍 People come from all over the world— It’s such a waste not to be able to talk with them!

Guests travel all the way from the other side of the world— I want to talk with them more, laugh with them more, and become better friends.

But in reality, even when I have something I want to say, the words just won’t come out. I want to understand them, but I can’t catch what they’re saying at all. Every day feels like—“Aahh, so frustrating!!”

📘 So—I decided to start studying English!

…That said, studying alone is tough! I don’t understand much, I can’t stay motivated, and honestly, I feel like I’ll give up after three days 😅

So I decided to take the leap and create a fun place where we can learn together ✨ And that’s… \ Watausa English /

🎲 What is *Watausa English*?

It’s a weekly English交流 event held at our guesthouse.

画像
  • Locals, travelers, anyone is welcome to join!

  • No worries if you don’t speak English— beginners and even kids are totally welcome! ◎

  • You can enjoy fun English card games and light conversations— lots of laughs and great connections guaranteed!

Here, nationality, age, or language level doesn’t matter. All you need is the desire to *try talking* and *want to listen*. That’s it!

In fact, through this experience, I’ve personally overcome the *fear* of speaking with foreigners and the *embarrassment* of using English ❣️

📺 We’ve also started sharing on YouTube!

I’ll be sharing little by little on YouTube— my journey learning English the fun interactions at Watausa English, and everyone enjoying games together 🎥

I’ll be sharing my English-learning progress too… just as it is—real, honest, and unfiltered (and probably a bit messy! 😂)

🐾 Last but not least

“If I’m honest… I can’t speak English, but I *want* to try.” “I think I’m kind of interested in international exchange.” “But… I’m nervous about going alone.”

If you’ve ever felt that way, why not drop by *Watausa English* and check it out?♪ No pressure—just come and have some fun!

You might just discover a whole new side of yourself 🌸 And if you enjoy it, I’d be so happy if you subscribed to our YouTube channel and cheered us on! ☺️
